ALK alkyd topcoat
Product Introduction:
Alkyd resin coatings are oil-based coatings with alkyd resins as the main film-forming substance. The resins are formed by the condensation polymerization of polyols, polyacids, and fatty acids or vegetable oils. Due to their excellent overall performance and relatively economical cost, alkyd paints occupy an important position in industrial, construction, and home decoration fields.
characteristic:
1. Excellent adhesion: The molecular structure of alkyd paint contains a large number of ester bonds and hydroxyl groups, which gives it excellent wetting and adhesion to substrates such as metal and wood. It can adhere firmly to the surface of the object and is not easy to peel off.
2. Good gloss and fullness: After the coating has cured, the surface of the paint film is flat and smooth, which can present a high gloss and full visual effect, making the coated object look more textured.
3. Excellent mechanical properties: After drying, the paint film has good hardness, flexibility and impact resistance. Even if subjected to external impact or bending, the paint film is not easy to crack or peel off.
4. Good weather resistance: Alkyd paint can resist the erosion of natural environments such as sunlight and rain, and can still maintain good performance in outdoor environments, delaying the corrosion and aging of objects.
5. Excellent workability: Alkyd paint has good leveling properties and is not prone to brush marks. It is very easy to apply by brushing, spraying or rolling, making it very suitable for DIY users or professionals.
6. High cost performance: Compared with other high-performance coatings, alkyd paint has a lower raw material cost, making its overall price more competitive.
use:
1. Industrial applications:
- Metal protection: Commonly used for rust prevention and decoration of various mechanical equipment, steel structures, iron railings, and vehicle chassis.
- Equipment Coating: Applied to the surface coating of agricultural machinery, construction machinery, machine tools and other equipment, providing protection and aesthetic effects.
2. Architectural and decorative uses:
- Wood coating: a protective topcoat commonly used for wooden doors, window frames, furniture, flooring and other wood products.
- Interior and exterior walls: Some alkyd paints can be used for the decoration and protection of interior and exterior walls, especially in situations where high gloss and scrub resistance are required.
3. Home DIY and Repair:
- Furniture refurbishment: Repainting and protecting old wooden or metal furniture.
- Home repair: Repair and renovation of doors, windows, wrought iron decorations, bicycles, and other items.

Theoretical coverage:
Typical: 13.25 m²/L/coat (dry film thickness: 40 μm (per coat))
It is recommended that the coating thickness be at least three times the maximum roughness (Rz) to achieve a good protective effect.
Instructions for use:
Surface treatment requirements:
Use a solvent to remove visible grease, oil, lubricants, cutting fluid, and other soluble contaminants from the metal surface that may affect adhesion, or use other methods to prepare the surface condition for the coating application, following the SSPC-SP1 surface treatment standard to prepare for subsequent protective coating applications.
The steel structure surface must be sandblasted to Sa2.5 (very thorough sandblasting) or SSPC-SP10 grade. Without using a magnifying glass, at least 95% of the surface area should be free of any visible oil, grease, dust, dirt, scale, rust, coatings, oxides, corrosion products, and other foreign matter. The surface roughness should be in the range of Rz 30-75μm.
Power tool treatment must meet St 3. This standard defines the use of power tools (such as power wire brushes, grinders, abrasive discs, etc.) to remove loose rust, scale, old coatings, and other foreign matter from steel surfaces until the surface has a metallic sheen. However, minor scratches and discoloration are permissible. It is equivalent to SSPC-SP3 in the US SSPC standard.
Surface defect treatment: This includes weld slag, burrs, cracks, and holes. These defects affect the adhesion and protective effect of the coating and should be removed or repaired as much as possible.
After surface treatment, a thorough inspection should be conducted to ensure that there are no contaminants or defects such as oil, grease, dust, dirt, scale, rust, welding slag, or burrs before proceeding with the next step.
Under any atmospheric conditions, it is best to perform the coating work within 1 hour after the completion of the "surface treatment" procedure, and no later than 8 hours after the "surface treatment".
Different coatings have different requirements for surface cleanliness and roughness. Please discuss this in detail with our sales staff before using this product.
Construction environment requirements:
Coating application should be carried out under suitable environmental conditions to ensure the quality of the coating. The following factors should be considered:
Temperature: Please construct within the recommended temperature range. Generally, it is not advisable to construct in environments below 5℃ or above 40℃.
Humidity: Relative humidity should not exceed 85%. Avoid construction in humid or rainy weather.
Wind speed: Excessive wind speed will affect the spraying effect; avoid construction on windy days.
Surface temperature: The surface temperature of the steel should be at least 3°C higher than the dew point temperature to avoid condensation on the surface.
