Uses:
– In the textile industry, it is used for scouring, mercerizing, and dyeing to help remove natural impurities such as oils, salts, waxes, and fats. During the mercerization process, Caustic Soda (NaOH) helps increase the mechanical strength and smoothness of the fibers; subsequently, in the dyeing process, soda helps improve the color adhesion efficiency. In the dye bath, soda helps stabilize and adjust the pH throughout the process.
– In the paper industry: Sulfate or sulfide components present in the raw materials are removed through extraction in an alkaline solution at the factory, used for pre-treatment of the secondary fiber pulping process.
– In the detergent industry, it is used to produce soap and other cleaning agents, utilized in the saponification and neutralization processes in the production of detergents.
– Caustic Soda (NaOH) is used in the textile dyeing industry to decompose wax and pectin in raw fabric treatment to increase luster and dye absorption for dyed fabrics.
